Break it down
Allow yourself the freedom of extending your spring cleaning blitz over the entire spring, if needed. It’s easy to get overwhelmed trying to do it all in a day or a weekend, but it’s not time sensitive.
Declutter
We’ve talked about Capsule Wardrobes in previous blogs, and spring cleaning is a great time to declutter and reset for a new seasonal wardrobe. Anything you haven’t used since last spring can probably head to the Op Shop.
Don’t strain yourself
Take care when trying to move furniture or other heavy items, as it’s always important to take your own strength and mobility into account.
Ask family and friends for help, and the warming spring weather means you can thank them afterwards with a barbecue.
Check your medicine cabinets
Ensure you check the expiration dates of any medicine, especially over the counter medication, as it can be harmful if used past expiration. Replenish what you may have run low on or had to dispose of, and make sure the area you keep your medicine is dark, cool, and dry.
Change the clocks, Change the Batteries
Everyone knows the saying, when the clocks change for daylight savings, change the batteries in the smoke alarms. It’s also a good time to check them and make sure they’re not collecting any dust.
Refresh the kitchen
Whilst checking your medicines, check your kitchen, especially any jars or bottles at the back of the fridge or cupboard.
Clean your appliances
Dishwashers and Washing machines are two of the most likely culprits to need a good clean, and thankfully they have pre-programmed cleaning cycles!
It’s also a good time to check the kettle and the oven, and whatever other appliances you may have that might need a little scrub.
